چکیده
Since they were first synthesized in 1992, the ruthenium catalyst named after Nobel Laureate R. H. Grubbs have become a useful tool in organic synthesis. Compared to conventional heterogeneous metathesis catalysts, Grubbs catalysts are more reactive, faster to initiate and better for reaction control. Grubbs catalysts have been employed in good effort both in academia and industry, the later in the synthesis of certain pharmaceutical intermediates. 2 One variety of Grubbs catalyst, known as second generation Hoveyda-Grubbs Catalyst, contain N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands and chelating benzylidene ligands (Fig. 1). These second generation catalysts exhibit enhanced stability and reactivity.

The development of a method for site-isolation of Grubbs second-generation catalyst from MCPBA is described. In these reactions, Grubbs catalyst was dissolved in a solvent consisting of a mixture (1:1 v/v) of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate and methylene chloride and completely encapsulated within a thimble fabricated from polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). A series of molecules that ...

Recycling of homogeneous catalysts could be achieved by using magnetic nanoparticles and solid-phase beads, but nanoparticle-supported catalysis proceeded much faster than its counterpart on resins.

Catalyst selectivity is associated with well-defined homogeneous active sites. Transition metal complexes and organocatalysts are highly active and selective in the homogeneous phase, and their heterogenization by incorporating them into inorganic solid materials allows combining their excellent catalytic activity with improved separation, recovering and recycling properties. In this article, w...
متن کاملRu complexes of Hoveyda–Grubbs type immobilized on lamellar zeolites: activity in olefin metathesis reactions
Hoveyda-Grubbs type catalysts with cationic tags on NHC ligands were linker-free immobilized on the surface of lamellar zeolitic supports (MCM-22, MCM-56, MCM-36) and on mesoporous molecular sieves SBA-15. The activity of prepared hybrid catalysts was tested in olefin metathesis reactions: the activity in ring-closing metathesis of citronellene and N,N-diallyltrifluoroacetamide decreased in the...
متن کاملSolvent effects on Grubbs' pre-catalyst initiation rates.
Initiation rates for Grubbs and Grubbs-Hoveyda second generation pre-catalysts have been measured accurately in a range of solvents. Solvatochromic fitting reveals different dependencies on key solvent parameters for the two pre-catalysts, consistent with different mechanisms by which the Grubbs and Grubbs-Hoveyda pre-catalysts initiate.
